We attended the 1.Redbull Soap Box Race organisation which made at 24 May 2009,12:00am in İstanbul Macka with our Solaris Gunes Soap Box car.We had lots of fun in this organisation and saw that we have no missing about the similar SoapBox organisations which made abroad.

This subject came up in Solaris General Meeting by Evrim’s speech,which is “why we don’t participate in these activities more often,there is SoapBox race that we can attend”.

-When we made the application to competition they able to sent us application kit after five days.Wednesday night we had drawing of 3 hours and sent it in Thursday.On Friday evening, the application has reached their hands they said “we will make returns have reported up to April 3.”

-3 April 2009 They informed us that we admitted to the competition and take place within organisation inspite of we are late,we are pleased but there is no vehicle or anything else had yet.

-On 19 April 2009 on the Aegean Region Soap Box pilots participated in the meeting we met with the other teams and we have learned they weren’t decide what will be done. Immediately this gave us power to work hard on car without falling down towards19 May 2009.

-On April 22 had cut irons which are necessary for chasis and welded them.In May 2 our friend Osman brought the missing parts than all parts are welded into the chasis and ended. We had larger wheels to make suitable for chasis and appropriate measures for challange then again with help of Osman we ended whole chasis and ruddering without braking wires in 1.Sanayi.The date came on May 15 but there is no body arround.We bought plywood and cut it appropriately in my house’s first floor.Next morning i called my friends to make drawing and painting on it.In this issue Neşe and Fatma are my group members, helped.My friend Uğur made car’s body lining and drawings that on the car.

-On April 16 we took the parts and took them to the school and there needed to be appreciated Osman again. We mount the body by riveted the L profiles. We get help from our friend Evrim for providing the body not dropping and not rubbing on the wheels and he did all this process. On May 18-19 we mount the body to the vehicle (Osman, Evrim and Çağlar) and loaded the vehicle to trailer at 3:00 pm.

-Because of on May 22 the pilots and on May 23 the crew members were given permission to the hotel, i went to the Maçka and paint the vehicle’s robust paint and black lines. Next day when the other friends came we make the vehicle to the last situation and delivered the vehicle to officers.

-Without the little faults on the organisation working the vehicle nearly perfect makes everything easier. We were only needed to having good time. On May 24 the meeting with the team, racecourse walk and on 12:00 when the race started we were enjoyed and after the four exciting hours the contest would be over. The winners got their gifts.
Solaris Sun Soap Box Vehicle

Even we try to imitate the the vehicle to our S2 vehicle it was more like a box. Because of the little likeness between the cars we painted cartoon and sea theme on it. Due to the “sun” word was passed we planted some solar panels behind the vehicle and finished our task. On ramp we perform a show with snorkel, sea glasses, sea towels and sea man and mermaid like our cartoons. After the step there would be only one important point was left which was pushed me with the car downwards. Because we never tried the vehicle i want them to push the vehicle slowly but then i would be regretful. When i passed the first turn i wished that to be pushed faster. I successfully jumped the ramp and after 50 meter the finish line is in front of me. And the whole problem started here. When i read the 450 meter i started to scream that “the brakes don’t work, somebody hold me” despite i pushed the breakes harder i cannot provide myself to get in the bales. It was a simple accident for me and only plywood was broken but people around came around me to see i’m okey. Then i went out of the car and showed them myself without any wounds. With the fear at the ramp and finish i cannot prevented the thought of “trying again”
